Hello Lovelies! I hope you are having a wonderful end to 2016. Where did the time go? As I reflect on the past year I cannot help but to feel so thankful and incredibly grateful for all that I have and for the relationships that I have with the people who are near and dear to me. I have such a wonderful family and group of friends who support me through all of life’s challenges. Dave and I have had the chance over the past few weeks to spend some quality time with our friends and loved ones which also included a little time out from blogging and social media. The time spent with each person was so special to us. The memories we made together will last a lifetime. We are so ready to face 2017 head on with full hearts and happy thoughts. Wishing you a safe New Year’s Eve and wonderful start to 2017. Thanks for stopping by! -xoxo
Tis’ the season for parties! I recently hosted a birthday bash for my sweet friend. We had the perfect crew of people, plenty of wine and more laughter than I knew was possible. When hosting (with a growing puppy) it is just as important to dress for comfort as it is for style. That is why I chose leggings and a dress for the sweet event. Today I am including my party look along with some other cute items that will allow you to show up to your next party in style with comfort in mind. My dress and leggings are from Pitaya. I linked some similar options for you here and here. My Kendra Scott earrings are a personal favorite of mine and would make the perfect gift for your BFF or someone in your life who loves to wear earrings. Here are a few other dresses that would make you show up to your next party looking as beautiful as you do comfortable. I just love the lace detail on this dress and it would look perfect with booties and leggings. This dress is another favorite of mine and would be perfect to pair with a blanket scarf and long boots. Do you have any favorite holiday outfits that mixes comfort and style? I’d love to hear about them. Thanks for stopping by! -xoxo
I have never been one to put off shopping for gifts, but this year I am behind schedule. Now that I have officially hit submit on my students’ final grades and all of my own assignments are submitted, I have some time to relax, reach out to all of you and to think about some gift ideas for my loved ones. This semester has proved to be very challenging yet incredibly rewarding. I am so thankful for all of the experiences that I have encountered throughout the first year and a half of my PhD program. One of my favorite things to do when I have extra time on my hands is to spend some time reflecting on things that have gone well. I think that when you focus on the positive it is easier to set new goals and they become more attainable with a positive outlook. It is harder to do this when you are busy and feeling overwhelmed. That is why I make sure that I set time aside to do this type of reflecting when I’m not sitting under a mountain of responsibilities. My first thoughts remind me that I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many loving and supportive people who always seem to know the right things to say as I move forward on this wild ride. I seriously could not do it without them. For many, the holiday season is a time to spread some love by giving gifts as a token of affection. I love searching for meaningful gifts because it is a time when you can give extra thanks to those who are your biggest cheerleaders and support you all year-long. For today’s post I am highlighting some last-minute gift ideas….for those who have been too busy to get shopping done, like me.
I first have to say that I am so sorry for the radio silence over the past week or so. My computer had to be sent away for repair and then it was shipped to the wrong address after it was fixed. Geesh! That was an emotional whirlwind during the busiest time at IU. Then I had to present (for my very first time) at a Literacy conference in Nashville, TN. All of this while the third semester of my PhD coursework is coming to a close. Between grading, finishing my assignments, and losing access to my computer it has been nearly impossible to keep up with anything. Not to mention puppy training! Yikes! Now that my computer is back, my assignments are getting submitted and my undergraduate students are happily making plans for winter break. This means that I have some more time on my hands to reach out to you. This blog has been my creative outlet this entire semester…a much needed creative outlet! I am happy to be back and ready to get the creative juices flowing again.
For today’s post I am showcasing one of my favorite trends of the season…the cold shoulder look is one I’ve grown to love. I spotted this red dress at Charlie Monroe Boutique. They have the sweetest looks that are very affordable, too. I just love supporting small businesses. And who doesn’t love a great bargain? This dress is available for under $30. I paired this look with a blanket scarf and some booties. I’ve worn this dress several times and I get so many compliments. I linked some similar options for you here and here and this dress is too cute not to share.
How are you doing with Christmas wish lists? Are you getting some sweet gifts for your loved ones? I’m going to put some gift ideas together for my next post. If you are like me, you are still needing some time (and ideas) to get your shopping done. I have yet to get started. This is completely out of character for me but I’m sure you can see why. Stay tuned! Let me know if there are any lists that you would really like to see. Thanks for stopping by! -xoxo
Cyber Monday is here! There are so many great deals happening. You can get these Tory Burch boots for over $200 off. Be sure to use the code THANKS at checkout. Are you looking for something for mom? Perhaps she would love this cozy cashmere scarf. What about that special guy in your life. Would he like a comfy pair of slippers? Your BFF might love this palette from Ulta or a new Kate Spade picture frame from Nordstrom. Whatever you choose today is the day to make your selections because the prices are so good.. I’ve listed a bunch of really good sales for you here. Check them out. Happy Shopping! -xoxo
Hello Lovelies, I hope you are all having a wonderful day. The best deals are happening soon! Is it me or does the black Friday window get bigger and bigger every year? One thing that doesn’t change is that we always want to get thoughtful gifts for our loved ones. I’ve highlighted some great sales for you to check out here. Happy Shopping! -xoxo
Just sharing a quick post today because my skirt and boots are both on sale and I don’t want you to miss out. I have gotten so many compliments on these boots and the price is right! Snag yours today. They even have a shearling lining in the foot bed to keep your feet extra warm. Also, this skirt is a must have for transitioning from fall into winter. The colors and pattern are even more beautiful in person. I think it would look great with a sweater or even a tank and a moto jacket. You could also pair it with tights and black booties. The possibilities are endless.
Are you all ready for Thanksgiving? I cherish the moments when I get to spend time with my sweet family. This Thanksgiving will be extra special. I’m so thankful that we will all be together. Wishing you a Thanksgiving that is filled with lots of love and laughter. Thanks for stopping by! -xoxo
Pink and off the shoulder…does it get any better? I love all the colors of fall, but my favorite color has always been pink. This Goodnight Macaroonsweater is so comfortable. It works well with white denim or any color denim, and it’s long enough to wear with leggings. It also comes in gray and another shade of pink. I styled this look with some taupe boots that I bought last year. I’ve linked a similar option for you here. This comfy cozy look would be perfect for lunch with some girlfriends or dinner with the fam. Speaking of family, I am so excited that I get to see mine this week. Dave and I will be visiting Pittsburgh for a few days with our pups. I’m excited that I will get to see my folks and I love watching my niece and nephew spend time together. It doesn’t happen often enough but when it does my heart feels so full. I can’t wait! Do you have any fun travel plans for Thanksgiving?
I better get back to writing my 20 page paper. I’m nearing the end of my semester in my PhD coursework and let’s just say, I have plenty to do. Thanks for stopping by! It means a lot to me. -xoxo
Happy Hump Day! I’m sorry that I have been MIA the past few days. Dave and I got a new puppy! Gracie is a 6 week old golden retriever so she is keeping us extra busy. For today’s post I decided to highlight some of my favorite cold weather essentials. It looks like the cold weather is coming to Bloomington this weekend so I will be putting my favorite items to use as I attempt to train the pup to take care of her business outside. I found this beanie at Express and today it’s on sale for under $20. My Sorels have been my go to favorite winter boots for several seasons now. They are warm, waterproof and cute, too. This cozy sweater is from last year but I linked a similar style for you here. And you can never have too many pairs of leggings. Am I right? What are some of your favorite cold weather essentials?
Here are some pictures of our fur babies. We are seriously outnumbered!
It’s Friday! Fri-nally! This week has been a wild ride of emotions for so many. Am I right? Pheewww! I don’t know about you but I’m so ready to relax, rejuvenate and spend some quality time with my guy. In a week full of negatives I feel like it’s time for some optimism overload. Let’s spread some love all around.
In the meantime, can we talk about the combination of colors with this jacket, dress and blanket scarf. They are the perfect colors for fall. I’m so in love with this Express jacket. I bought it last year so they no longer have the same color in stock but they do have the same style. I’ve linked a few different colors and styles for you below including the similar option in this beautiful mustard color. I get so many compliments on this dress. It’s comfortable and it comes in a variety of colors. I added the perfect blanket scarf, long boots and Sole Society handbag to finish the look. Do you have a favorite color combo this season? I’d love to hear about it.
Oh, by the way, Dave and I are talking about something BIG so stay tuned to see what we are talking about. I’ll be ready to share the details very soon! Have a beautiful weekend!
